Laser Tattoo Removal

Every tattoo has a unique and special meaning… sometimes it’s a spontaneous decision one lives to regret and other times the wearer simply grows out of the tattoo and wants to have it removed. The good news is that usually a tattoo can be removed.
Therapie Clinic is one of the only clinics to provide a free patch test and a free consultation to determine the number of treatments required and the cost involved.
There are many factors to be considered including the type of ink used, whether it’s a professional or an amateur tattoo and also the actual colours used but by and large, between three and 12 treatments will remove a tattoo completely.
How does it work?
The laser is aimed at the ink particles under the skin which in turn breaks the ink down into smaller particles. The body then naturally flushes these particles out through the lymphatic system.
Does it hurt?
The sensation of the laser is often described as a small rubber band being snapped onto the skin. Most clients tolerate this sensation well and the discomfort goes away directly after the treatment.
How much does it cost?
It is difficult to determine the cost of the treatment without having a consultation as each tattoo is a different shape, size and colour. The best way to get the most accurate information is to book in for a free consultation and patch test.
Is the consultation and patch test free?
Yes! Therapie is one of the only clinics to provide a free patch test valued at €70 and a free consultation where we can determine the cost of your treatment and also the number of treatments needed.
How many treatments will I need?
Due to the differences in tattoos from person to person, this is best determined in your consultation. Depending on the type of ink used, whether it is a professional or an amateur tattoo and also the colours of the tattoo, you may need from between 3 and 12 treatments to remove it completely.
How long does each treatment take?
This varies due to the different sizes of tattoos. Treatments can take from between 5 minutes to 1hour. We can best determine this in your initial consultation.
Are there any side effects?
You may experience some swelling or redness after the treatment which will settle back down within a couple of days. A small minority of clients may experience blistering which does not need to be treated and will pass within a few days. It is important to apply SPF+30 if the skin will be exposed to the sun or if the tattoo is in areas that are not under clothing.
Will I be scarred after the treatment?
Occasionally if the skin was damaged when the tattoo was first applied, these faults will only become noticeable after the tattoo is removed. Also if the skin is dark, pigmentation can occur, where the skin may become slightly lighter where the tattoo is. This will return to normal between 3-6 months.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. We only use the highest quality FDA approved machines at Therapie. There is no evidence to suggest that there is any increased risk in skin disorders or skin cancers.
What machine do you use?
We use the Q-Switched Nd:NYAG (1064nm) and KTP (532nm) Laser for the reduction of multi-coloured professional, amateur or traumatic tattoos and benign pigmentation. 1064nm is ideal for treatments of blue/black ink pigments and dermal pigmentation. 532nm is ideal for treatment of red/orange ink pigments and superficial pigmentation.
How much does it cost?
The prices depend on the amount of time required. For 15 minutes the price is €72. For 30 minutes the price is €120 and for 1 hour the price is €239.
