iPixel Treatment

What is iPixel?

iPixel is a fractional laser treatment designed to improve the appearance of pigmentation marks, ageing and sun damage.

As we age, our skin cell turnover slows down; we show signs of accumulated sun damage, and develop brown marks on your skin known as hyperpigmentation.

Acne scarring also causes hyperpigmentation, as does exposure to the sun (‘sunspots’ or ‘liver spots’ on the backs of hands; neck, face and décolletage).

How does the iPixel Treatment work?

The iPixel laser targets microscopic dots of skin ‘pixels’ in the epidermis and upper dermis, causing the targeted cells to break down.

The surrounding skin is left untouched, so healing time is quick as new skin cells are generated to ‘fill in’ the areas targeted by the laser.

It uses light technology to target the damaged skin cells and addresses them with photothermolysis, a combination of heat and light. It’s suitable for most skin types, and dramatically improves the appearance of acne scarring, blemishes and pitting, as well as hyperpigmentation marks.

iPixel also reduces pore size and smoothes out rough skin, so the legacy of acne is greatly diminished. After treatment, your skin will be more even, healthy-looking and smooth.

As iPixel is versatile and easy to control on a variety of body areas, it’s ideal for use on neck, décolletage and the backs of your hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does iPixel Treatment take?

Treatment time varies from individual but usually takes under 30 minutes per session.
Our specialist will discuss treatment time, frequency and just what to expect when you arrive for your free initial consultation. A course of four to six treatments; one every four to six weeks, is recommended for optimal results, and once you have completed your initial course of treatments you can get a top-up maintenance session every 6 – 12 months.

Is there any downtime after iPixel?

As iPixel is fractional laser and uses thermal heat, there is a relatively quick healing time. You will experience redness in area for a couple of days, and your skin will feel quite dry for about a week. It’s important to keep it well moisturised in the seven days after treatment, so you can talk to your skin therapist about the most effective moisturisers for use on treated skin.

Does iPixel treatment hurt?

As with all treatments, pain tolerance varies from person to person. After iPixel treatments skin feels as if it has sunburn, but during the procedure we use a cooling device so the actual laser treatment itself is virtually pain free. iPixel resurfacing treatments are performed all over the world and continue to be a safe and extremely effective way of rejuvenating your skin. Come in for a free skin consultation and one of our experts will assess your suitability.

Does iPixel Really Work for Acne Scarring?

It’s one of the most effective treatments for scarring available on the market. You may have seen it used for acne scarring on Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies.

The iPixel is directed onto the damaged areas of skin, and it removes cells from the epidermis and upper dermis in small areas-little dots referred to as ‘pixels’. This means that the skin heals very quickly, as only a portion of it-the damaged parts-has been affected. The surrounding skin is untouched.
