Laser Hair Removal

How does laser hair removal work?

A laser is a concentrated beam of light that we use to target your unwanted hair.

The light is converted to heat when it’s absorbed by the pigment in each hair, and this causes damage to the follicles where the hairs grow. This damage reduces future hair growth. You will be given eye protection while the treatment is being carried out.

Can you treat all skin types with laser hair removal?

Yes, all skin types are treatable at Thérapie Clinic as we only use medical-grade lasers with the most advanced technologies that allow us to do this safely and effectively.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

While laser hair removal can delay or inhibit the hairs from growing, it’s not always a permanent solution to unwanted hair – unless the follicle is completely destroyed. You’ll usually undergo between 6 and 10 sessions to notice a significant reduction, as well as maintenance treatments.

Does Therapie use an IPL machine or medial grade laser?

Therapie Clinic only use the most advanced leading Medical Grade Lasers, not IPL machines.

I have blonde hair. Can I still have laser?

Unfortunately, blonde, grey/white and red hair do not respond to laser hair removal treatment. The laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair and these hair colours do not produce any pigment so will not be effective.

How often can I have my treatments?

We recommend you leave a minimum of 4-8 weeks between your treatment times initially; this depends on the area you are treating and your hair cycle. As the number of growing hairs begin to reduce, we space out your treatments further to ensure we always catch the hair in the correct stage of growth, the anagen stage.

How many treatments do I need?

We recommend starting with a course of 8-10 treatments.

The number of treatments you will need is dependent on many factors: the area being treated, the type of hair being treated, systemic factors such as medications, medical conditions, stress & hormonal influences such as PCOS for example.

You will need at least 6-10 treatments to achieve optimum results.

Once you achieve the maximum reduction of 80-90%, you will require maintenance treatments. A minimum of 3 maintenance treatments a year is recommended, but this can vary per client.

Why do I need more than just one treatment?

Your hair has three different growth stages. For laser to work, we need the hair to be in the anagen stage which is the active stage of hair growth. However, only 1-30% of your hairs at any given time could be in the anagen stage. Every time you visit for your laser treatment, we are killing off a certain %, i.e. the hairs which are in the anagen stage.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Some people relate to it as a sensation of an elastic band flicking on the skin. We have a cooling system built into the machine which cools the area as the laser works, making it very comfortable for clients.

Do I need a consultation/patch test for laser hair removal?

There is no patch test or consultation required prior to this appointment. However, if you are attending one of our clinics in Northern Ireland, under government guidelines, you are required to have a patch test carried out prior to your first treatment.

Do I need to shave for my consultation?

You are not required to shave for your consultation appointment. We advise having some hair growth in the area so your hair suitability can be assessed.

Can I wear false tan while having laser?

You can wear false tan in between your Laser treatments. All false tan must be removed from the skin 3 days prior to treatment. After your Laser treatment has been carried out, you should allow 3 days before re-applying false tan.

How long before my holidays can I have laser? How long after my holidays must I wait before having laser again?

You can have Laser hair removal carried out 5 days before you go on a holiday.
After sun exposure, we cannot treat the skin for 4-12 weeks. This timeframe is case dependant for everyone. You must be at your natural skin tone to have your treatment carried out again.

What areas does ‘Full body’ Include?

The ‘Full body’ includes areas from the collar bones down to the toes.
We also have a combination package for the ‘ Full body including full face’ and this includes the entire body.

What is the difference between ‘Any Bikini and Bikini’?

Any bikini includes a Hollywood or Brazilian bikini. The bikini line covers the bikini line area only.

Can I have laser while pregnant or breastfeeding?

It is not recommended to have Laser Hair Removal treatments while pregnant or breastfeeding; however you can purchase any of our Special Offers and commence your treatments whenever you are ready.

Are there possible side effects to laser hair removal?

You may experience some redness and an itching sensation can be experienced from 1-5days after the treatment this is a natural histamine reaction.

Can I have laser hair removal if I have tattoos?

We cannot treat over tattoos. If you have tattoos in the area of treatment, these will be covered.

Is there a timeframe I must use my laser hair removal course in?

Pre-paid treatments are valid for specific time periods based on the number of courses purchased:

  • Per session – 3 months
  • Course of 3 – 18 months
  • Course of 6 – 18 months
  • Course of 10 – 18 months
If I am taking medication, will this affect my laser hair removal treatment?

Some medications are contraindicated to Laser Hair removal. Please contact us directly if you are currently taking any medication and we will advise you further.

Anti-Wrinkle

What areas can you get Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

In the Aesthetic field, Anti-Wrinkle Injections are used to treat:

  • Horizontal Forehead Lines.
  • Frown Lines – 11 lines between the eyebrows.
  • Crow’s Feet – Around the eyes.
  • Bunny Lines – Scrunch lines on the nose.

As Anti-Wrinkle Injections are prescriptive medications, they are administered by medical professionals. Careful consideration and medical clearance will be undertaken before treatment. The best advice is to visit a highly reputable clinic with highly experienced medical professionals, renowned for good practice and subtle results, such as Therapie Clinic.

How does it work?

Anti-Wrinkle treatments relax muscles that are active when our faces are animated. These lines are known as dynamic lines and are caused by frowning, smiling and other daily facial expressions. Over time, dynamic lines cause the loss in collagen in the skin, deepening the lines and turning them into what’s known as static lines. Anti-Wrinkle treatments do not work on static lines, therefore prevention is the key.

When will I see results?

You will start to notice your results appear 5-7 days post treatment and the full effect should appear after 2 weeks.

How many areas do I need?

This will be based on personal preference. Our medical professionals can advise further based on your preference.

Is the treatment painful?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections have minimal pain, they are administered with very fine needles and take only a few seconds to undertake. It will be a tiny prick of a needle for a moment, most patients tolerate it very well.

Can I have the treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?

You cannot have any injectable treatment carried out while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can I have Anti-Wrinkle injections and Dermal filler together?

Yes, you can have anti-wrinkle injections and Dermal filler carried out together.

How often can I have the treatment carried out?

You must wait a minimum of 12 weeks in between your Anti- wrinkle Injection treatments.

What are the possible side effects of Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections have a very strong safety profile and have been used for over 30 years in the Aesthetic field with millions of treatments globally every year. They are safe and effective when administered by a highly trained medical doctor who has a high level of expertise in this field.

Most side effects associated with these treatments are mild and transient, they include:

Mild swelling at the injection site.
Mild tenderness and bruising at or around the injection site.
Mild headache.
A mild feeling of heaviness.

How long do Anti-Wrinkle Injections last?

The longevity of treatment can be affected by your metabolism, bulk muscle and lifestyle. Each patient responds differently, but on average anti-wrinkle injections last between 2 and 4 months before the full relaxing effect on the muscle wears off completely.

Anti-wrinkle results wear off gradually, the full relaxation result will last out to 6 weeks post-treatment, after which a tiny bit of movement slowly creeps back in; however muscles are not back to full functionality until the 2 to 4 month mark when re-treatment is recommended.

When can I fly after having Anti-Wrinkle Injections carried out?

You can fly 48 hours after having Anti-Wrinkle Injections carried out.

Do I need a consultation for Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

If this is your first time to have Anti-Wrinkle Injections carried out, you can book a free consultation appointment. This appointment offers the opportunity to have the treatment carried out, if you wish to do so.

What other treatments do you do?

The other incredibly popular treatment is Dermal Filler – at Thérapie Clinic we use the Juvederm brand.

Juvederm is a high-end FDA-approved Dermal Filler made in France. It is a Hyaluronic Acid gel which is a naturally occurring substance, it is essentially a sugar gel that is injected into the skin to subtly correct some of the ageing features on the face. It can also be used to naturally enhance lips and to provide subtle contours to the face.

A feeling of heaviness in the area of treatment can be experienced in the first week post-treatment, this is a result of your Anti-Wrinkle Injections taking effect and your muscles starting to relax.
If this is your first Anti-Wrinkle Injections you will be contacted 2 weeks post-treatment when the product has taken full effect to assess your treatment results, a small adjustment may be required at this stage if necessary to perfect results.

Lip Filler

How do lip fillers work?

This substance also stimulates the growth of collagen giving you a more youthful appearance. At Thérapie Clinic we use the world’s most tried and tested dermal filler, Juvederm®. This product has been rigorously tested through clinical trials over the past 15 years and its records for safety and efficiency are outstanding. Juvederm® has been used in 15 million treatments worldwide.

How long does it last and does it hurt?

A huge advantage of lip fillers is that the results are long-lasting but not permanent. Your lips can be altered over time in order to maintain the desired appearance. On average, each treatment lasts 6 months. At Thérapie Clinic patient care is always at the forefront of all of our procedures and we will ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. All of our lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic however; during the procedure itself, clients may experience some mild discomfort. This is only temporary, and your doctor will advise you on how to minimise this discomfort.

Thérapie Clinic will inform your treating Medical Professional so that they can contact you, advise you and if necessary, arrange to see you again to address and resolve the issue.

Profhilo

Is Profhilo a Dermal Filler?

No, it is not a Dermal filler – the only similarity is that they are both hyaluronic acid gels, but the gels are completely different. Profhilo perfuses the skin, and Dermal Filler replaces deep subcutaneous fat and enhances bone structure.

Profhilo cannot change contours or facial shape or provide enhancement, it cannot be used to directly target fine lines. Profhilo is solely used to trigger a skin remodelling increasing skin quality and luminance.

Where can Profhilo be used?

Profhilo is most commonly used for facial areas but can also effectively be used for rejuvenating the neck, décolleté, arms, knees, and hands. I

ncreasingly, the neck is becoming a popular area to have Profhilo, due to its ability to help reduce crepe-like skin and sagginess and encourage a firmer appearance.

Overall facial rejuvenation, Hand Rejuvenation, Facial Sagging, Sagging Neck Skin, and Crepey Texture on Neck.

What does Profhilo treatment involve?

Profhilo is injected just below the skin’s surface over 2 sessions 4 weeks apart. After injection, it disperses quickly beneath the skin to improve hydration, without any need for massage or the risk of leaving lumps or nodules. Profhilo is absorbed within a 2cm radius of its injection site, so to treat the face only 10 injection points are needed in total.

A single course of Profhilo involves 2 injectable treatments, after which you can expect to see intense hydration. It makes the skin glow, fine lines can disappear and you’ll notice smoother tighter skin. Courses of two treatments can be repeated every six months as needed to maintain the results.

Will Profhilo work for my skin type?

We start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid after we reach 25, and it is at this age that we start to consider preventative treatments.

This is the time when many people would consider their first anti-wrinkle injections as the first lines start to appear. If you feel your facial tissue quality has dropped significantly, and that you may look older for your age, but are not ready for dermal fillers yet, Profhilo may be the best treatment for you.

Could I get Profhilo to target lines on my forehead or around my eyes?

No, for fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area, you’ll need Anti-Wrinkle Injectables.

Can I have Profhilo treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?

You cannot have any injectable treatment carried out while pregnant or breastfeeding.

How long should I wait between Profhilo and other injectable treatments?

You will need to wait a minimum of 4 weeks between injectable treatments.

When will I see results from Profhilo?

Expect to first see a difference 3 weeks after your 2nd treatment session of your initial treatment cycle.

How long do Profhilo results last?

After the initial treatment (of 2 sessions one month apart), follow-up sessions are usually recommended every 6 months.

When can I fly after having Profhilo?

You can fly 7 days after you have had Profhilo.

What is the pre-treatment advice for Profhilo?
  • Please plan any social occasions around your Injectable treatments, as redness, bruising and swelling can be experienced post-treatment

Are not pregnant/trying to get pregnant/not breastfeeding.

Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin in the skin by puncturing the dermis with microscopic needles. The treatment utilises the skins ability to heal itself, in turn triggering the production of new collagen and elastin. In addition to treating pores, fine wrinkles, loss of elasticity, scaring and pigmentation it also enables topical products to penetrate deeper into the skin, increasing their effectiveness.

What skin conditions can Microneedling treat?

Medical Microneedling also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy, works for a variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Treatment of scars (including burn scars, acne scars and surgical scars)
  • Stretch marks (including post pregnancy)
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Pigmentation marks

Microneedling produces channels in the dermis which stimulate the body’s natural defences to repair the skin. This leads to the production of concentrated amounts of collagen and proteins to the treated areas of the skin. This results in the skins thickness being increased by up to 80%, smoothing scars, visibly reducing stretch marks and erasing wrinkles.

Do I need a consultation before Microneedling treatment?

A consultation appointment is a requirement for this treatment.

What is the benefit of Microneedling?

The procedure improves skin texture, reduces the appearance of scars and creates a more youthful tone. It’s no surprise that this treatment has been hailed as a non-invasive way to achieve youthful, dewy looking skin.

Morpheus8

What is Morpheus8?

MORPHEUS8 uses microneedling in conjunction with radiofrequency energy to treat the deeper layers of the skin. Microneedling uses tiny needles to repeatedly puncture the surface of the skin, causing controlled trauma that triggers a wound healing response in the area that in turn stimulates your skin to produce collagen. Meanwhile, radiofrequency energy is delivered beneath the surface layers of the skin, and this causes coagulation in the tissues that creates collagen remodelling. The combination of these two skin rejuvenation technologies allows this treatment to target both the upper and lower layers of the skin the epidermis and dermis. This results in deeper remodelling in the lower layers of the skin which improves the resurfacing effects of microneedling. The depth of the radiofrequency energy delivered can be customized to reach different depths of the dermal layers to address your unique skin concerns with greater precision.

What skin conditions can Morpheus8 treat?
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Lax or mildly sagging skin
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Large pores
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun damage
  • Jowls
What are the benefits for your skin?

This treatment is known for its anti-aging properties, from tightening and contouring sagging skin, to smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, this skin rejuvenation technology is excellent for minimizing the signs of aging. It’s very popular to use this treatment to target the face, jowls, jawline, and neck. It is also excellent if you’re looking to improve the appearance of acne scars, micro-needling with radiofrequency energy is particularly effective. Microneedling helps resurface the top layer of the skin, so it’s excellent for creating clearer, brighter, and more evenly toned skin. If you have active acne, however, you will not be eligible for treatment as the needles can spread bacteria from the acne and cause further breakouts. Morpheus8 is suitable for all skin tones and is the safest skin resurfacing option for people with Darker Fitzpatrick skin types. This treatment poses little to no risk of hypo or hyperpigmentation.
