Acne often leaves marks, known as ‘post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation’. Reddish or brown marks on your skin are often as unsightly as acne blemishes themselves. In general, acne scarring takes two forms: scars that have a gradual dip or little depression into the skin; or scars that are deep and narrow. The active acne needs to be under control before the scars can be treated effectively, and scarring ranges from mild to severe. There are several options available at Therapie Clinic, including laser resurfacing; IPL (intense pulsed light); glycolic peels and micro-needling.
Every person’s skin is different. We invite you to book in a
skin consultation to determine the most suitable treatment
for your skin concerns. Below are some of our Acne Scarring Treatments
Micro-needling involves puncturing the skin multiple times with tiny needles which create microscopic channels in the dermis layer (where collagen is produced).
The outside layer of skin is unaffected by the micro-needling procedure, but the body perceives the treatment as fresh trauma to the area which causes it to start producing large amounts of collagen.
A specific variety of collagen is produced after micro-needling, known as Type III Collagen, which is the body’s natural healing agent. This helps heal the skin and diminish the scars caused by acne; it makes skin smoother and plumper to lessen the pitting and hyperpigmentation left by acne blemishes.
Until recently, patients with persistent, moderate acne have been treated with only topical or sometimes systemic antibiotics. Recent studies have demonstrated, however, that certain discrete spectra can trigger endogenic porphyrins that naturally destroy the bacteria that causes Acne. This is the case of our Laser 360 treatment which rapidly destroys the bacteria without damaging the surrounding tissue. Laser 360 gives quicker results than any pharmaceuticals and can also treat acne skin scarring.
